SDGs Project: The Bloated Whale

The Eight Awards is a creative competition initiated in 2022 by the Nagoya Advertising Agencies Association. Member agencies could enter by developing graphic communication work that themed on Social Development Goals (SDGs). This work by ADK was awarded the Grand Prix among 92 contestants.

From the 17 SDGs, No. 14, life below water, was chosen for the theme, and the news from The Philippines in 2019, that a whale carcass found on the shore had 40kg of plastic bags in its stomach, was made into print communication that conveyed the need to think about marine plastic waste.

The ad was inserted in 6 newspapers in the Nagoya area, as well as on hanging posters in trains, and as posters in public areas.
